Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for the Shoals Area Until 8:15 PM

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Lauderdale, Colbert, and Franklin counties in northwestern Alabama, effective until 8:15 PM CDT.

At 7:18 PM, severe thunderstorms were located along a line stretching from near Shiloh to Cambridge, moving east at 35 mph. These storms are capable of producing quarter size hail, which could result in damage to vehicles.

Communities in the path include Florence, Tuscumbia, Cherokee, Waterloo, Colbert Heights, and Underwood-Petersville. Residents should seek shelter indoors, away from windows, and remain weather aware this evening.

A broader line of storms continues pushing east-southeast across northern Alabama. Some stronger cells ahead of the line may become briefly severe, and isolated hail or strong winds will remain possible. A brief tornado can’t be ruled out but isn’t likely.
