DAVID CORDERO & AIKO TAKAHASHI – NIGHT’S END
When does the night end? Somewhere between the darkness of the night and the first light of the new day, obviously. Or, perhaps, the moment you wake up and not go back to sleep.
This music is made for that moment. Or, better: inspired by that moment – since it can also be enjoyed on other delicate moments of the day. Such as the moment the evening slowy transforms to the night.
Night’s End presents ten gentle pieces of gentle piano and modular electronics. ‘The album unfolds with quiet melodic fragments, soft harmonic movements and subtle electronic textures that drift together, weaving in stillness and reflection.’
It is a collaboration of David Cordero (from Spain) and Aiko Takahashi (from Slovenia). Both present themselves as (ambient) sound artists, so I am not 100% sure who is playing the piano and who creates the electronic backdrops. But I assume Cordero plays the piano and Takahashi the modulars – but perhaps both do both.
Anyway: this albums is exactly as described: ‘music that feels intimate yet quietly expansive.’

Beautifully mastered by Ian Hawgood, Night’s End is released on the Home Normal label in CD and digital edition.
Unfortunately, there is worrysome news for EU-citizens who prefer physical editions: due to the new EU packaging regulations (which may cause problems for small labels, distributors, and artists because they may face fierce extra costs in every single country they ship to) shipping to the EU is currently paused.
As this regulation is new (in effect since August, 12, 2026), it is not clear what the future will bring in this regard.
