Fold/Interval feels like an album suspended in air—an ambient work where guitar and electronics drift in and out of focus with a kind of deliberate, slow-blooming grace. What stands out for me is its sparse, vacant atmosphere; a spaciousness that never feels empty so much as quietly charged.
The duo leans into restraint: guitar phrases appear like distant signals, poised and beautifully understated, while Perletta’s electronic textures move with a soft, granular patience. Together they shape a landscape where melody is less a line and more a presence—something that hovers, unfolds, and then dissolves again.
It’s a series of short, blended compositions that rewards an appreciation for stillness.
The interplay between the two musicians creates a subtle tension between vacancy and intention, making it feel like a study in how little sound is needed to create something so quietly absorbing.
I made a personal copy for my trail runs (and as a means to pen this review); mixing all the tracks into a single, thirty-one minute excursion (it blends in with the natural sounds of the wooded, dirt, riverside trail . . .)
