SECRET CAMERAS UNVEIL “NIGHT LUST”, A CURSED GOTH ROCK CHILD BORN AT MIDNIGHT

Where the band’s previous work lived in the pulsing, four-on-the-floor world of darkwave and post-punk, “Night Lust” marks a deliberate turn: a descent into goth rock, richer in atmosphere and unafraid to let big riffs do as much work as the hypnotising rhythms.

It’s Secret Cameras at their most spectral, the propulsive beat of the last single “Our Love” (released in march 2026) leaves the pace to something more wild and haunted.

There’s the melancholic grandeur of The Cure at their darkest, the seductive, shadow-drenched cool of Sister of Mercy, and running underneath it all, a current of primal, tribal gloomyness borrowed from Killing Joke and the wave of 80s dark rock all filtered, as ever, through Secret Cameras’ own unmistakable sound.

According to the band, the timing of the song’s creation was no accident: “Night Lust” came together entirely after dark, written and produced in one unbroken stretch of nights that began with the bell tolls of a winter midnight: the exact hour the band consider the song’s true birthday.

The band tells: “We didn’t plan it that way, it just happened. We were exploring new ideas for songs and, after the entire day in our studio, at midnight on that night, ‘Night Lust’ came to life. Every part of it, the production, the mood, the atmosphere, carries that moment with it. We like to think of it as a kind of blessing from the dark hours themselves.”

“Night Lust” will feature on Secret Cameras’ upcoming EP, “Dead Roses on the Border,” out September 25th. The band will celebrate the release with a bespoke release party in London at The Waiting Room (Stoke Newington), bringing the EP’s nocturnal world to life for the first time on stage.
