This episode concludes the fights between Yhwach and Ichigo along with the fight between Uryu and Jugram Haschwalth. In the throne room, Ichigo and Rukia are both wounded, Orihime and Yhwach have been erased from existence, and Renji, Sado, and Ganju arrive. Of course, Orihime isn’t going to defeat Yhwach, as Ichigo attempts to take the place of the Soul King, Yhwach returns. His Reiatsu overwhelms everyone except Ichigo who attacks and fails to damage Yhwach.
Yhwach reveals that he has the ability to “gaze down upon all of the grains from high above because The Almighty grants him the ability to outright alter the future rather than just see it.” He tosses a bloodied Orihime at Ichigo, as he claims to have “altered her future”. Yhwach claims that he wants the same “Wahrwelt,” as Orihime. He claims to want “a serene world of peace with no pain, hate, or suffering.” Ichigo isn’t buying it. He accuses Yhwach of being both “hope and despair”. Ichigo draws his Zangetsu, recalling his past battles.
Zangetsu is snapped in half
Yhwach claims to “need” Haschwalth, as he activates Auswählen and takes his power. Ichigo activates his true Bankai, Tensa Zangetsu, merging both swords into one. However, Yhwach breaks Zangetsu in half and even breaks off a piece of Ichigo’s horn. He then stabs Ichigo with his Reishi Broadsword. Renji becomes enraged and activates his Bankai, but is sliced into pieces. He grabs Rukia by the head and breaks her arm when she tries to attack. Yhwach promises to “cut through any future that Ichigo manages to change.”
The fight between Jugram and Uryu has taken a backseat to Ichigo vs Yhwach. Haschwalth has been overwhelming Uryu, who tried to use his intellect to counter the Sternritter. Battling against Jugram with The Almighty was nearly impossible but with Jugram’s Schrift, The Balance it’s a more manageable fight. According to Jugram his Schrift “matches up well,” against Uryu’s Antithesis. Haschwalth believes that Uryu Schrift is the only one that can challenge Yhwach’s Almighty, as it can “reverse events that already happened.”
Ironically, Uryu is saved by Yhwach’s use of Auswählen. While, Jugram claims that he’s not upset that Yhwach robbed him of his power and left him for dead, he allows Uryu to transfer his injuries to him. I’m not sure what to make of this action. Is he trying to get revenge? He makes it clear that he doesn’t think Uryu can change anything. Does he simply want to give Uryu a chance to save his friends because he couldn’t save Bazz-B? Haschwalth does die with Bazz-B’s emblem in his blades handle. Maybe he has some hope that Uryu or Ichigo can get revenge for himself and Bazz-B.
