Title Change: “Game Master Gera” is changed to “Game Master”.
The original has a recap of what happened in the previous episode before the title card. In the dub, they keep the recap, but they frame it with new dialogue and recycled clips from Jillian, Dr. Goodman, Sarah, and Tony. They’re recapping the footage from Flint’s adventure that was acquired by Pterry to see if they can find the Land of Dread with it. (Although, a clip or two couldn’t have been captured with Pterry since he wasn’t there…) It’s not a bad change, to be honest. Although, I don’t really understand what data they could collect on his location just from those clips.
Our actual final historical figure of the series is Yang Yuhuan, also known as Yang Guifei. This is more or less a technicality, though, because she’s not the focus of the episode and doesn’t hang around long. She invites Kyoichiro into Emperor Gensou’s harem and introduces herself. In the dub, she doesn’t mention a harem or Gensou. She just says this is a court and introduces herself as Yang Guifei.
Yang just tells the girls to take care of Kyoichiro. In the dub, she tells him they need a dance partner.
Gera likes to say his name and ends a lot of his sentences with -gera. Like with most instances of this type of stuff happening in any anime, this has been removed.

Dubbed:
They insert a repeat shot of Gera after the shot of the screen to continue his monologue in the dub.
TP Lady says she hates mushrooms. In the dub, she says he’s out and they’re in.
Name Change: Gera is changed to Ominito…….I have even less of a clue than normal.
Ammon mocked TP Lady for having such angry outbursts after being dumped by a guy. Bindi mocks her for being tricked in the first place, which is more cruel if you ask me.
Bindi calls TP Lady and old hag, which is why she grabs her. In the dub, she tells Petra to be quiet.
Gera says he wants Genshi to have some fun. In the dub, he says it’s Flint’s birthday and it’s time to light the quake………..because…..he’s gonna make an earthquake…..That was one of the dumbest jokes I’ve ever heard.
Genshi says “What is this?” in regards to the coin. In the dub, Flint says “It’s a mushroom coin!”
Dyna asks what the coin is. In the dub, he says he’s hungry and wonders if he can eat the coin.
Putera asks what’s up with this cave. In the dub, he tells everyone to hang on because it appears the cave is bottomless…..What’s the point of hanging on while falling if the cave is bottomless?
Gera says that’s a nice fall. In the dub, he says he can start his own reality show…..featuring people falling down a hole?
The next part is kept, which makes Pterry’s changed line seem weird considering he’s now telling Dino and Mite to let go when he just said to hold on.
Oh god…..Dyna and Mite say that the reason they’re so loyal to TP Lady is because she’s their lifesaver. In the dub, Mite says their story is personal, and Dino doesn’t want to tell it because he wants to hold out for a book deal on their life story and doesn’t want to spoil the big surprise. They reverse and replay this sequence with Dyna and Mite to have Mite ask if he’s in the book. What was the purpose of that? Absolutely nothing.
Genshi asks what a lifesaver is, and Ototan gets an exasperated look while saying he’ll explain it to Genshi later. In the dub, Flint promises he’ll keep their secret, and Rocky, with an exasperated expression for some reason, and also in Pig Latin, for some reason, tells Flint to look a Mite’s stomach.
So….*sigh*……This whole time…….we’ve been meant to think Dyna and Mite are human? When Mite has green skin, no nose, and no ears?….and Dyna has like fins or gills or whatever those are on his face along with no ears?
Okie….dokie….
Dyna admits that they’re not human. In the dub, in response to Mite saying the big secret of the book has been revealed, Dino wonders if Shakespeare had similar problems.
The group responding in shock to the news that Dyna and Mite aren’t human is removed.
Both TP Lady and Petra say they don’t care, but Petra’s a little more of a jerk by saying she doesn’t care because Dyna and Mite aren’t even human.
It feels like they prematurely cut off Ominito’s line when he says “You’re going down!” in the dub.
Dyna apologizes to Genshi, and Mite says they must be pretty heavy. Genshi responds by saying he’s fine. In the dub, Dino asks how Mite’s back is, he says it’s okay, and Flint says they’re light as a feather.
Putera tells Genshi that there are giant mushrooms blocking the path. In the dub, he says to stay back until they can determine what kind of mushrooms these are….before they show that there are mushrooms.
Oh my god….they put Sora back in Playboy-bunny-esque fetish clothes again…….What the hell? I guess it’s not as risque as the other outfit, but still, what the hell?
Tony responding to seeing his double on screen is switched to after the group shot from behind instead of immediately following the first shot of the double.
Also……what is the logic with these things? Sora is shown in a maid/bunny outfit. We have Ototan looking incredibly evil. Kyoichiro is in his full vampire form….and Tokio….just has angel wings.
Yamato says that they’re using the images of Sora, Tokio, Ototan and Kyoichiro to make Genshi lose the will to fight, which would be a good idea….if 1) He didn’t witness these mushrooms turning into his friends, so he knows they’re not his actual friends, 2) They didn’t make them giant versions to further differentiate them from the originals and 3) Didn’t put them in weird outfits or change them in a significant way to even further separate them from the originals.
In the dub, Goodman just says he doesn’t know how they’re making these doubles.
I find it funny that the bunny hammer says “I’m sorry” when it strikes. This isn’t mirrored in the dub.
Genshi says he knows they’re fakes but….then he trails off. In the dub, he asks how they can be sure they’re fakes……..Ahem. *points to list above*
When the bunny strike pops on screen, it says “I’m sorry!” again. In the dub, it says….”Rabbit up”? I can’t hear it clearly.
Kyoichiro says he has a bad feeling about this. In the dub, he says “Ew, those mushrooms smell.”
Sound design nitpicking: Ammon sounds much further away than Bindi does. They’re in a cave, and she’s in a room at the end of the corridor. Why would Bindi sound like she’s right next to them?
So….are Dyna and Mite just healed of their leg wounds now?
TP Lady yelling at Genshi is switched from after Genshi hits the cage to after Pterry points out the slot machine, so it kinda looks like she’s blowing her top for no reason.
Rocky: “Always put in the max, son.”…………….Saban…..did you just give gambling advice…..to children?….Did you just give AWFUL gambling advice to children?
The part with Gera in front of a beach is supposed to just be his fantasy about achieving his dream of beating Genshi. In the dub, they have him say that defeating Flint will grant him freedom to leave this place and finally be able to see the sun, which means they’re kinda making him a bit sympathetic right now as it implies he’s a prisoner of the Dark Lord.
No name plate on Gera’s bad transformation. Hm.
Putera says those were laughing mushrooms. In the dub, he tells Flint he shouldn’t eat wild mushrooms.
Genshi says it hurts. Flint says he’s full….yeah…..I’m sure FLINT…is full from a few mouthfuls of mushrooms.
Genshi says he’s paralyzed, and Putera says those were paralyzing mushrooms. In the dub, he says he feels kinda sick, and Pterry says he shouldn’t have eaten so much.
Why are all these idiots leaving their mouths wide open when they’re being attacked by the mushrooms and then swallowing the mushrooms when they get into their mouths? Genshi I kinda understand because he’s a pig, but why Dyna and Mite?
TP Lady says if they won’t obey her words, then they’ll get punishment. Then she hits them over and over. In the dub, she says if they won’t stop she’ll “make the big face”….whatever that means. The hitting is removed.
Gera says this is a happy time but also a sad one – he’s very emotionally confused. In the dub, he says this is great, but he still has to obey the Dark Lord. He’ll always be “second toadstool.”
Name Change: Super Comet is changed to Orbit Master.
Name Plate Removed.

Gera says “Going down!” Ominito says he hopes he doesn’t end up in some soup.
Gera says that’s to be expected of Genshi. In the dub, he says he’s not cut out for this and that he might be able to find work in a salad or a nice lasagna. Get it?….Because he’s a mushroom. It’s funny.
They add an establishing shot of the lab after the shot of Unita.
Sora says Genshi didn’t stand a chance against the Masked Man. In the dub, she says he had them as confused as Tony is with algebraic equations.
————————————–
Not gonna lie, this episode was a tiny bit disappointing. I had hoped that Dyna and Mite being turned against TP Lady would result in some more emotion than what we got, and while we did get some niceness between the trio, it wasn’t a satisfying amount if you ask me.
It is a wobbly line to walk considering their typical relationship and just how TP Lady typically is. You don’t want to make it too emotional because it will come off as unearned or even out of character, but you don’t want to it to be so unemotional that it doesn’t hit at least a small chord with your audience. I think they got somewhere in the middle leaning toward the former, though. It was fairly well done, but still not all that sweet.
I find it weird that they said TP Lady turned them human in her lab. Since when was TP Lady a biologist?
Gera was most definitely a disappointing second-to-final boss. Half the episode was just him using various cave traps in the Land of Dread. The only one he did himself was the mushroom doubles, and that wasn’t all that great. The fact that the mushroom doubles thing nearly worked on Genshi is lame for all the reasons I listed. I know they LOOK like his friends, but that doesn’t change the fact that he KNOWS they’re mushrooms…..and that they don’t even fully look like his friends, really.
What I assume is named Gera-Kon is a little more interesting because he clearly has a lot of mushrooms that cause various effects. However, you need to ingest the mushrooms for the effects to work, and if you have half a brain you should never be affected by Gera-Kon’s powers….but because Genshi has less than half a brain, he opens up his mouth and eats them as they’re shot at him over and over. And then Dyna and Mite stupidly open wide and eat the mushrooms too. I know they’re stupid as well, but come on.
Super Comet’s debut was also lackluster. She has such vague powers. Is it really just a superpowerful version of her original encouragement power? Pretty decent design, though.
The Masked Man coming in and blowing everyone away was alright. Although, if he’s so powerful, I don’t understand why he hasn’t just been appearing to Genshi and the others himself. I know supervillains tend to have a thing about letting their lackeys do the dirty work and they only get involved when they need to, but he beat Genshi and everyone else in like a minute and a half.
This wasn’t a bad episode at all, don’t get me wrong. It’s just a bit underwhelming, especially considering we’re so close to the grand finale. I was just expecting a bit more oomph.
My favorite parts were the group being very understanding and kind to Dyna and Mite and even TP Lady. All the shit they’ve put them through over the series, and they still find it within themselves to care about them. Flint in particular is just a sweet kid.
Next time, the penultimate episode – all of Genshi’s Space-Time Monster friends are sent in to help him, but the Masked Man bad transforms them all. Can Genshi win a fight against his friends?
