WEBTOON Entertainment announced on August 10 it has entered into a definitive agreement to make a strategic investment in RI Games Holdings Inc., a move that will give WEBTOON a 60% stake in the game company upon closing.

WEBTOON Entertainment plans to develop and release multiple games based on established webtoon IPs with global fanbases over the next four years. RI Games Holdings operates two game development studios, GrayGames and Offbeat.

RI Games Holdings’ current lineup includes games based on popular webtoon titles Overgeared, which has accumulated 1.3 billion global views; Doom Breaker with 590 million views; and Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, which has surpassed 3.05 billion views.

The first title will be a new action MMORPG based on Overgeared. GrayGames is developing the game, with Nexon publishing it globally later this year. The game is scheduled to launch alongside the Overgeared anime, which will premiere in October.

The Overgeared anime revealed its first key visual, promotional video, and additional cast members in July. Crunchyroll also announced that it will stream the series. The anime is being produced by J.C. Staff, with Ayako Kōno directing.

Fans can read the official English versions of Doom Breaker and Omnisicent Reader’s Viewpoint on WEBTOON and Overgeared on Tapas.

Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is also getting an upcoming anime adaptation. Offbeat’s game adaptation, published by Com2uS, is slated for PC and console in 2028.
