The future of mobility took center stage at Makati Shangri-La as VinFast officially introduced its three flagship electric motorcycles to the Philippine market. Bringing together members of the media, content creators, and industry partners, the event marked an exciting milestone for the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer as it continues its expansion across Southeast Asia.
Leading the launch was Ms. Vo Thi Cam Tu, Managing Director of VinFast E-Scooter Overseas Market, who described the occasion as an important step in bringing reliable, affordable, and sustainable transportation to Filipino riders. More than simply introducing new products, VinFast showcased its vision of making electric mobility practical and accessible for everyday life.
The lineup offers something for different kinds of riders. The Evo is the brand’s entry-level model, designed for practical daily commuting with a maximum range of up to 150 kilometers. The Feliz sits comfortably in the middle, prioritizing rider comfort for those who spend hours on the road each day. At the top of the range is the Viper, a premium model that combines bold styling with modern features such as a smart key system and a full TFT display for a more refined riding experience.
One of the highlights of the presentation was VinFast’s unique battery subscription program, allowing riders to swap depleted batteries for fully charged ones instead of waiting to recharge. It’s a concept that could make electric motorcycles even more convenient for daily commuters and demonstrates the company’s commitment to making EV ownership as hassle-free as possible.
VinFast E-Scooter Philippines CEO Mr. Niño Fabros also shared the company’s growing presence in the country. From its current network of 21 showrooms, VinFast aims to expand to 100 locations nationwide before the end of the year. He also emphasized the advantages of electric mobility, pointing to lower operating costs, reduced maintenance, and warranty-backed ownership as compelling reasons for Filipinos to consider making the switch.
Of course, the best part of the day came when the motorcycles finally hit the test course.
As someone who’s still relatively new to riding motorcycles, I expected the Evo to be the easiest to handle because of its smaller size. Surprisingly, it was the one that took the most getting used to. Its classic scooter-inspired design felt quite different from the Yamaha Mio and Honda Click scooters I had previously ridden, making some maneuvers feel unfamiliar at first.
The Viper, on the other hand, immediately felt natural despite its larger size. Its sportier proportions and riding position gave me more confidence, allowing me to comfortably make tighter turns and weave through the course with ease. Sometimes, a motorcycle isn’t just about how big or small it is—it’s about how familiar it feels once you’re in the saddle.
Unfortunately, a sudden afternoon downpour meant I wasn’t able to take the Feliz out for a ride, leaving me curious about how it bridges the gap between the Evo and the Viper.
After spending time with the motorcycles, one thing became clear: VinFast isn’t simply introducing electric scooters—it is introducing a different way of thinking about everyday transportation. By combining practical features, innovative battery-swapping technology, and models that cater to different riding styles, the company is making a strong first impression in the Philippine market.
