Histrionic shadows crawl over The Goth Moth’s theatrical spiral of vengeance, ‘Call It Even’ –

Allowing fans of shadowy, genre-fluid gothic aesthetics to imagine what it would sound like if The Rasmus and Phil Collins collided, The Goth Moth lends a histrionic air to the foundations of pop-punk on Call It Even. Raised in the Glasgow music scene, the real-world embodiment of the macabre devil on your shoulder brings alternative rock, freak folk and childhood nightmares into a theatrically feral masterstroke.

After a prelude of crooning, the beat kicks in with New Found Glory-esque fury, and that is where the Glasgow-based antagonist of invention unfurls the visceral conviction at the centre of the track. Call It Even almost dares to lead itself down a baroque avenue, letting melodrama swell through the vocal delivery before the guitars drag the single towards a post-hardcore breakdown that howls and clamours rancour through the mix. It spins you on the kind of tilt-a-whirl you could expect to ride in the most twisted carnival on earth.

Since releasing music in 2024, The Goth Moth has built towards a debut EP, An Inefficient Remedy, a collection shaped by alienation, paranoia and a martyr complex, with sonic palettes ranging from ambient soundscapes to cathartic powerhouse riffs. Call It Even makes that world feel gloriously unstable. It is theatrical alt-rock for anyone who likes their hooks haunted, their pop-punk dramatic, and their catharsis wearing eyeliner under a funhouse light.
