Man United make move for Gambia wonderkid

Man United have approached young African talent, Omar Marong, as per latest transfer news. The Gambian midfielder is an exciting prospect and the club wants to recruit him in the academy. However, Christopher Vivell has asked the club to go for Joaquin Seys. Vivell is impressed with the Belgian and wants him to be the future of the club.

As reported by TEAMtalk, Man United are impressed with 16-year-old, Omar Marong. The young Gambian wonderkid could be one of the rising stars of African football. Man United, along with some other clubs are linked with Marong. If he joins the English side, he will definitely enrich the quality of the academy at Carrington. The club has already communicated with the teenager regarding a potential transfer move.

The Gambian youngster attracted a lot of clubs’ eyes at the WAFU Zone A U-17 competition in Senegal. The 16-year-old captained Gambia’s U-17 team in the tournament, this month. Furthermore, his nation won the competition under Marong’s captaincy. The Red Devils have a good reputation in promoting youth stars to the first team from the academy. Moreover, United have bought midfielders like Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has reported on his X about Man United’s interest in the young African midfielder. He said, “Manchester United are among a number of top European clubs tracking highly-rated Gambian teenager Omar Marong. United have made an enquiry for Marong, who has come through the TMT Football Academy in Gambia.” Celta Vigo, Sporting CP and Benfica have also monitored Omar Marong.

The club was interested in signing a new left back this summer, preparing to move on from Luke Shaw. But the club hierarchy failed to bring players like Lewis Hall and Nathaniel Brown on that position. Now, the club wants to go for Club Brugge’s left back, Joaquin Seys.

The club’s director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell is an admirer of the Belgian. He is fond of his traits and believes he could fit into English football. Man United’s scouts watched the 21-year-old in the game between Brugge and Genk. Seys may be a good replacement of Luke Shaw on that left back position and therefore the club discussed a potential move this summer.

Man United have no intention to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Recently, Michael Owen suggested that United should have gone for Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Some links with the Premier League striker were also coming from Man United. But as reported by Football Insider, the club has no such plans to bring the Leeds man.

Football Insider’s Mick Brown says, “I’m told there’s nothing in the links with Calvert-Lewin and Man United. He was struggling with fitness, struggling in front of goal, and Everton decided to let him go on a free. It would have been a strange move for Man United to make. I’m glad he’s finally showing the sort of form everybody expected of him, but Man United are not going to make a move for him. They might want a new striker to compete with Sesko, but I expect they’ll be looking elsewhere”
