Cebu gets its first Popeyes

Popeyes is set to open its first Cebu branch at Cebu IT Park in the fourth quarter of 2026. The upcoming store will bring the American chain’s signature Louisiana-style fried chicken to Cebuano diners for the first time. The exact opening date and full details of the branch have yet to be announced, so customers will have to wait for the official schedule.

From Louisiana to Cebu

Popeyes traces its roots to New Orleans, Louisiana, where the brand was founded in 1972 as Popeyes Famous Fried Chicken. Its menu is built around Louisiana-inspired fried chicken, with chicken sandwiches, biscuits, tenders and other sides forming part of its core offerings. The brand has since expanded internationally, including in the Philippines through its local franchise operator.

The Philippines already has Popeyes

Popeyes entered the Philippine market through an exclusive master franchise development agreement with Kuya J Holdings Group in 2022. The agreement marked Popeyes’ expansion into the Philippines as its first major master franchise development deal in Asia. The brand has since continued building its presence in the country, including a franchise location at NAIA Terminal 3.

Cebu IT Park gets another food name

The first Cebu branch will be located in Cebu IT Park, a major business and lifestyle district in Cebu City. The area is home to offices, residential developments, shopping destinations and a wide selection of restaurants, making it a natural location for a brand targeting both workers and diners. Cebu IT Park is owned and developed by Cebu Property Ventures and Development Corp., with the estate covering about 27 hectares.

Expect the familiar favorites

Cebuanos who have tried Popeyes in other parts of the Philippines can expect the brand’s familiar menu when the Cebu branch opens. Its offerings center on crispy fried chicken prepared with the chain’s Louisiana-inspired seasoning, along with chicken sandwiches and its signature biscuits. The complete Cebu menu, including prices and any location-specific offerings, has not yet been announced.

A new choice for fried chicken fans

Popeyes’ Cebu arrival also puts another international chicken chain into a market where fried chicken is already a familiar favorite. The brand will enter a dining district where customers can easily compare different styles of chicken, sandwiches and fast food meals. Its Louisiana-inspired menu gives it a distinct identity that could appeal to diners looking for something different from the usual choices.

The opening date is still under wraps

While the opening is targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026, Popeyes has not yet announced the exact date of the Cebu branch’s launch. Details such as store hours, opening-day promotions, delivery availability and the complete menu are also still pending. Until those details are released, customers should treat social media posts claiming a specific opening date with caution.

Cebu’s food scene keeps growing

The upcoming Popeyes branch is another sign of Cebu IT Park’s continuing evolution as a dining destination. The district already attracts restaurants serving local food, international cuisine, coffee and fast food, with new businesses regularly adding to the mix. For Cebuanos, that means another recognizable name will soon join the area’s long list of places to eat.

The chicken countdown begins

For now, Cebuano Popeyes fans will have to wait a little longer before getting their first local branch. The target remains the fourth quarter of 2026 at Cebu IT Park, with more details expected as the opening approaches. When the doors finally open, Cebuanos will no longer have to travel outside the province just to satisfy a Louisiana-style fried chicken craving.
