Birthdays and challenges October 2022 – Mama Flora

Thibault is six years old. Can you believe it? My little baby is six! It’s true when they say, the days are long, but the years are short. I can feel it now. He is growing up, maturing, learning how to read and write. It’s incredible. We had a cozy family celebration for him at home the day before his birthday. The cake was a hard execution for me this year, so we had to improvise and I let Thibault and Flora take the lead on the decorations with candy. It was Candyland themed. Turned out lovely. Cream cheese frosting is the new go to.

In other news, mom has breast cancer. I flew home after Thibault’s birthday to be with her. I was in NY for five nights. It felt short, but it was enough. I’m grateful that I was able to make it there to be with her before radiation begins. The first couple weeks of September were so hard. I couldn’t fall asleep at night when I heard the news. On the bright side, she has a good prognoses. The doctor seemed positive about the future.

After I heard the news of breast cancer from Mom, we had a stream of illnesses in the house. Thibault got sick, then Flora, then Thibault again with krentenbaard. It lasted longer than we ever thought it could. Thank God Jaap is flexible with work. It was too much for me to handle. Then I got laryngitis. A few days later Flora is home sick with a stomach ache. Turns out to be an appendicitis. When it rains it pours. I was just waiting to get hit by a bus. It felt so chaotic and out of control. We survived. Then Thibault’s birhtday came and I was able to fly home.

I feel reset and ready for this season. XOXO

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
