Berlin firefighters pulled off a nearly impossible rescue when they caught a woman who dropped two stories from a burning apartment building, and the entire thing was captured on camera. The incident occurred on the morning of August 14 in the Friedrichshain district of Berlin, when a fire broke out on the 11th floor of a residential high-rise on Straße der Pariser Kommune. With smoke billowing behind her, the woman lowered herself from the window ledge and dropped two stories into the small basket. There, firefighters caught her. She sustained only minor injuries.
Flames and Smoke Fill the Morning Sky
The fire was reported at 6:27 a.m. local time. It originated on a balcony of an apartment on the 11th floor. After that, the fire rapidly spread into that apartment and then to the apartment on the 12th floor above it. Dense smoke spread through the building and along the facade.

Thirteen people suffered minor injuries, primarily from smoke inhalation; five were taken to hospital by ambulance. The woman from the fire apartment was among the five.
