I realized I haven’t done a paint post in a while.
I was thinking blue, but since there are at least three blue paint posts, I thought I would do green.
Of course, there is already a post about green paint colors, and this is the all-new version. And when I say all-new, I’m not kidding. The original post was written in 2015, and so it was in dire need of a gut renovation.

Never mind that some 700+ of the 3,500 Benjamin Moore paint colors are some shade of green.
Although a lot of the “greens” say “gray” as part of their name, or some other word that isn’t green.
It takes nothing for green to pop out of colors that don’t look green UNTIL they go up! In fact, here’s a post with some of my favorite shades of green that don’t say “green.”
Even my beloved Knoxville Gray doesn’t look very green on the chip.
Believe me. It is GREEN in both my lower entry and my upstairs entry door and wainscoting. Yes, it is tempered with plenty of gray, and that’s what makes it feel incredibly livable.
Above is the lower entry door painted Knoxville Gray. This door is steel and was formerly in my bedroom. I had the guys add some moulding. This image was taken the day after it was painted. The blue tape is gone now.
My warm incandescent lights really bring out the GREEN. Above is the view into the primary bedroom.
KNOXVILLE GRAY HC-160 was used for the walls and trim, but with different finishes.
The ceiling is Newt Green.
Lighting definitely has an effect on this color.
Above is a shot of the stairwell, from my living room during the day and no lights on. As you can see, the blue is coming out.
Okay, we’ll continue with the rest of the 9 fabulous shades of Benjamin Moore green paint.
But first, do you know what is the common mistake with shades of green wall paint?
I’ve been through this mistake before, but if you missed it or this is the first time with us, here it is.
People sometimes get all nervous that it’s going to be “too much,” and then decide to dilute it with white. (mixing it at “50%” or something like that) Or, they wimp out and pick that really sickly, icy tooth-pasty minty-green. AKA: Hospital green. Or Crest Toothpaste
Please try not to. Do your testing and then be brave. You won’t be sorry.
However, if you want a light green for the walls, it needs to have a good amount of gray in it. For those who own the Laurel Home Paint and Palette Collection, you’ll find numerous shades of pale gray-green colors, as well as medium and dark shades.
The one exception is if you’re putting the light green on the ceiling. I find if it’s too gray, it could look a bit muddy.
There are also some wonderful ceiling green-blue colors.
One of my favorite ceiling colors is Benjamin Moore Italian Ice Green.
Below, you can see this ethereal color on my bedroom ceiling. It’s not one of the nine colors, but rather a bonus color.
One thing to always keep in mind, and I forget it too, is that unless the room is a basement or something, most rooms have windows, doors, furniture, and stuff on the wall. Usually, the paint color is a backdrop, not the main event. (If your room doesn’t have windows, please check out this post)

Windsor Smith brings the outdoors inside in this lovely room with a spectacular view.
ESSEX GREEN HC-188
This green is almost black, but when the light hits it, you’ll see the green.

After seeing how wonderfully this room turned out, it made me see deep, rich colors in a whole new light.

This is a wonderful sage from the historical collection, and a long-time classic.
And yes, that’s one of the boards from the Laurel Home Paint and Palette Collection.

Above and below are actually Calke Green by Farrow and Ball, but it is close to one of my favorite Benjamin Moore Greens:
This color was inspired by Tory Burch’s magnificent living room walls, not painted, but lined with this sumptuous green velvet.

And that is a real Melchior D’hondecoeter painting above the sofa, which is also green velvet but appears to be a different fabric.

Yes, this is another example of a color that looks different than what it is. But in the foreground on the lower right, you can see it better.
