Bowigens Beer Company files for bankruptcy, but “We’re Not Going Anywhere”
Casselberry’s Bowigen’s Beer Company has officially filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida.
As reported in news aggregator What Now, this does not mean the brewery is closing. “A Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing is a legal process that allows a business to reorganize its debts, restructure obligations, and continue operating while working toward financial stability. Under Chapter 11, a debtor typically proposes a plan to repay creditors over time, subject to court approval. A Chapter 11 filing does not necessarily mean a business is closing or going out of business.”
Brewery owner Bob Bowen reacted strongly to the bankruptcy news being reported and wanted to reassure beer enthusiasts that closing up shop is not in the plans.

The last year has been a hell of a ride. We took a big swing on the future of Bowigens with the Casselberry expansion, and while there have definitely been some challenges on the back end getting here, the response since reopening has been incredible.
We’ve made the decision to restructure some of the company’s debt so we can put Bowigens in the best position for the future and continue doing what we’ve been doing for the last 11 years – making great beer, taking care of our people, and continuing to grow.
The important part? We’re here, we’re not going anywhere, and we’re looking forward to what’s next. Both taprooms are open, the brewery is brewing, the kitchen is cooking, and we’ve got a lot planned for the future. More beer. More food. More events. More Bowigens.
And if there’s one message we’d leave everyone with, it’s this: Support the small businesses you love. If there’s a brewery, restaurant, coffee shop, tattoo parlor, music venue, whatever it may be that you enjoy having in your community, go support them. Grab a beer, order some food, bring a friend, tell somebody about them. Especially in times like these, it can mean more to a small business than you realize.
We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported us over the years and continues to support us today. We’re excited about what comes next.
