97% positive and a Metacritic score of 83
The early verdict is lopsided. Negative reviews make up only a small fraction of the total, and the volume is already well past a thousand within the first four days on sale.
Critics land in a similar place. Order of the Sinking Star has a Metacritic score of 83, so the professional and player responses point in the same direction rather than pulling against each other.

6,236 players online, outside the weekly top 100
On Monday, 12 October at 17:31 UTC, 6,236 people were playing Order of the Sinking Star. That is not enough to enter Steam’s weekly most-played top 100, a chart led by Counter-Strike 2 with a daily peak of 1,404,227 players. The two numbers measure different things, though: one is a single live snapshot, the other a daily high, so they do not line up directly.
For a game four days old, the review count is the clearer signal. Order of the Sinking Star reached 1,689 Steam reviews by 12 October, and 1,645 of them recommend it.
