What are we all playing this weekend?

It’s been a manageable, some might even say calm week for Team RPS, so we’re rewarding ourselves for a productive five days of PC games with some PC games. Or barbecue. Actually, that sounds better. Is it too late to switch?

Edwin:
This weekend I’ll be trying out the early access build for Hard Void, a cosmic horror 4X with striking side-on battle presentation and a thumping techno soundtrack. But mostly I will be trying to pick all the local blackberries before they turn to dust, and throwing them into a big pie that will give me constipation.

James:
It’s been a while since I’ve truly enjoyed a matey game that isn’t Deep Rock or Darktide, but shatter my shins if Big Walk isn’t just an absolute treat. A deeply clever puzzler, with such a wonderful understanding of how mundane interactions can – in the right conditions – become meaty, memorable challenges. I like it so much I’m willing to endure the most daunting test of all: trying to find when five thirtysomethings are all available at the same time.

Callum:
I’m down in Felixstowe for the weekend to go to a BBQ, so no games for me. I will be too busy fighting drunk men for a seat on the train, only to inevitably lose and stand in a crowded corridor that smells of pee and the faint aroma of a mango passion fruit vape a teenager is “discretely” hitting in the toilet.

Julian:
Went on holiday, leaving only a note that reads “Don’t you write about this note, especially not in italics”.

Jeremy:
After very much bouncing off of Beast of Reincarnation (which, in my admittedly harsh opinion, felt almost like a game that was designed by an LLM spurting out ideas for something that haphazardly incorporated everything popular in video games these days), I am glad to be playing another embargoed title where parries are just as important, but the overall experience is 100 times better. If this momentum keeps up, it might be a contender for my GOTY; we’ll see.

Ollie:
My lips are sealed by embargoes, alas. My regular gaming buddies are getting increasingly frustrated by my absence. But it turns out this game I may or may not be working on is really goddamn good.

Dion:
Last seen muttering something to Julian about notes.

Mark:
I fancy a bit of rallycross in Dirt Rally 2.0. A chill hunting and fishing-focused bit of Skyrim may also happen. Also, maybe a ride around Night City on a metro to check out this new Cyberpunk mod. Basically, I have no set plan. I will drift where my whims take me.

And you, reader dear, what are you playing this weekend?…

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
