For all the amazing things Fears has done since its relaunch in 2016, the brand has generally stayed relatively accessible, under GBP 5,000. However, it has now entered the world of complications, a move that raises its positioning in both renown and price. Enter the Brunswick 39 Perpetual Calendar.

Despite taking the form of the Brunswick collection, the Brunswick 39 is actually a new size configuration for the brand, sitting between the existing dressier 38 and the sportier 40. The Brunswick 39 clocks in at 39mm x 45.4mm x 10.1mm, which is impressively the slimmest model in the collection. And that is despite having the added complication of a perpetual calendar. Which brings us to the dial. The dial comes in silver mink that has a frosted finish and is coated in pure warm silver, which stands out against the steel case and really harks back to traditional perpetual calendars. The complications also take a traditional layout, with 4 recessed sub-dials for the date (with 31 in cyan blue), day, month & leap year indicator, as well as the moon phase.

The movement an automatic Sellita SW300 with a module made by Dubois Depraz specially for Fears. That means it runs at 4Hz and comes with the standard 47-hour power reserve. Where it stands apart, though, is the finishing, which features frosted surfaces with hand-finished bevels that are topped off with an 18k gold engraved rotor. With all of this going into this piece, we ask the important question: why does it cost GBP 26,950?
