Italianity: The Culture of Italian Wine Talk (Commonwealth Club)

What If the Real Measure of Italian Wine Was Soul, Not Scores?

“In a world measured by scores, what if the real measure was soul?”

That was the soul-searching question that set the tone for an incredible evening at the Commonwealth Club World Affairs in San Francisco this month. If you caught my recent newsletter, you know how deeply the conversation moved me.

As the moderator for the evening, I had the privilege of sitting down with author Jessica Dupuy and Master of Wine Andrea Lonardi to celebrate their new book, Italianity: The Culture of Italian Wine.

But what was meant to be a book launch talk and tasting quickly turned into a beautiful, soul-searching exploration of why we fall in love with wine in the first place.

For me, wine has always been about conversation rather than consumption, and this night was proof of that. The video of the full panel discussion is above and always enjoyed paired with Italian wine! Here are the ones we tasted at the book launch in San Francisco.
