Nashe povo IPA Light doesn’t sound like an IPA

Our beer, not in the sense that the beer is ours, but that it is the name of the brewery – Nashe Beer Brewing Company Ltd. In addition to this brand, they also produce Medvedevskoe (Medvedevskoye). The brewery is located in Medvedevo settlement in the Republic of Mari El. It cannot be called quite small, but it does not reach the average regional brewery in terms of volume.

I first became acquainted with their products at a festival in Cheboksary. At Prodexpo, the brewery’s stand was not far from the entrance to Kraft Korner, where I got a bottle of IPA Light. I was warned right away – it’s not an IPA. I looked it up in my Untappd notes, and yes it is. Having tasted the IPA Light at home, I don’t change my opinion.

Nashe povo IPA Light (Russia, Mari El, Medvedevo) – 5/12 The aroma is malty, caramel. The flavor is sweetish and watery. Overall, pretty clean, but if you let the beer breathe, a little bit of cardboard comes out. The hops are there though. You can’t say it’s without hops. It’s grassy, hiding somewhere behind the caramel. Yeah, it’s not an IPA or even a Session IPA. I guess you could call it a “hoppy Viennese”. “C” rated.
