This delicious Marmalade Ham Glaze Recipe is not only easy to make but a delicious glazed ham recipe that your family or guests will love. Don’t even get me started on the leftovers – they are fabulous and I have a slew of ways you can use them all up that is of course if their are any leftovers left. This Orange Marmalade Glazed Ham is the perfect main dish and perfect centrepiece for your dinner table! It doesn’t take long to prepare and you don’t even have to heat up or cook the glaze – just whisk and brush over the ham. The marmalade glaze is really tasty adding sweet, tangy, spiced notes to this fab ham. Let’s talk ingredients.

Easy Glazed Ham Recipe Ingredients
- Smoked Ham – There are different types of ham but I recommend a bone in ham not a boneless ham or spiral ham for this recipe as a spiral ham will very likely dry out too quickly
- Orange marmalade – you could really use any marmalade like apricot or even quince but my favourite is orange marmalade
- Whole-grain mustard – For a spicier kick feel free to use adobo sauce, or spicy Dijon mustard
- Brown sugar – honey, coconut sugar or pure maple syrup are good alternatives
- Bourbon – or you could also use cognac, dark rum, or even sherry instead
- Spices – ground coriander, ground ginger, ground allspice, ground black pepper – feel free to add some Aleppo pepper or chili flakes, chili powder for a hint of spice and smokiness
- Orange Juice – freshly squeezed is best – and you will need the juice of half of an orange (reserve remaining half for garnishing ham)
- Water – water is poured into the bottom of the pan to keep the ham moist while it’s roasting – check that you have enough water at the bottom of the pan periodically and if it evaporates make sure to add more as needed. Feel free to use cider or even broth for more flavour but water works just as well and is one less ingredients you need for this easy recipe
- For Ganishing – fresh herbs, fresh greens and orange wedges or orange slices
- Additional add ins – a lot of ham recipes recommend dotting the ham at the cross points of the scores in the skin with whole cloves – that is totally optional – I didn’t add them to this recipe but feel free to if you feel strongly about that

How to Make This Marmalade Glazed Ham Recipe
- Be sure to remove the ham from the fridge 1-2 hours before cooking to allow it to come to room temperature and 30 minutes before cooking, preheat the oven and prepare your roasting tin.
- Score the skin of the ham in a diamond pattern with a sharp knife, in the ham just through the skin & fat layer. Cut the skin/fat layer about ¼-inch deep, with the parallel lines about 2-inches apart.
- Pour water into your roasting pan and place the ham flat side down in the middle of the wire rack in tin. Wrap with parchment paper and foil
- Place the ham on the center rack in the oven. Bake the ham at 350°F for 1 hour
- Remove ham from oven carefully and remove covering – increase oven temperature to 425°F
- Make the glaze by combining the ingredients in bowl or measuring cup along with some of the basting liquid in the bottom of pan and set aside. Brush ham with half the glaze then return to oven uncovered for 20 min
- Remove and baste with a little more glaze then return to oven for another 10-15 min or until golden with some charred edges (and internal temp registers 130-140°F on and instant read thermometer) If the ham is browning too quickly, spray a piece of foil with nonstick spray and loosely place it, sprayed side-down, over the ham.
- Remove the pan from the oven and cover with aluminum foil loosely and allow it to rest 15 minutes before brushing it with some more glaze, slicing and serving with remaining glaze

Why Glaze a Ham?
If you are planning on serving a ham for a big family dinner, it’s well worth the small effort to make a glaze for it. Glazing adds color and adds to the fabulous golden exterior, texture and flavor to the meat and it’s as simple as whisking together all of the ingredients. It’s so impressive to serve to the table and it’s one of the most traditional foods for a nice big family dinner.
How Long do You Cook a Ham?
An 8 pound ham will take about an hour and a half to cook, if your ham is bigger or smaller, it should take between 10-15 minutes per pound. The smoked ham is already cooked, so it only needs to be heated through. The internal temperature of the ham should register 130-140°F and let it rest for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Leftover Ham Tips & Suggestions
- Freeze the entire ham bone in a ziplock bag, and make soup later. I recommend a good split pea soup.
- Cut the ham off the bone, chop in small pieces, and freeze for a frittata or a breakfast casserole
- Chop up leftover ham and make these delicious baked beans.
- Make a pan of ham and cheese sliders that everyone will love!
- Add some leftover sliced or chopped ham to your next baked Mac and cheese or even your Chicken Tetrazzini
- Add it to casseroles
- Add it to pizza – would be great on Hawaiian pizza
- Pan fry it and serve it with your eggs

Storage & Freezing
- Storage – leftover cooked ham that has been cooled and stored in an airtight container will keep well in the fridge for 3-4 days. Same goes for the ham bone (don’t toss it- it’s perfect for soup) – reheat in the oven or stove top on lower heat and covered so it doesn’t dry out. Microwave will work too.
- Freezing – wrap cooled leftover ham well in a layer of plastic wrap, then wrap in aluminum foil or place it into freezer bags. It will keep well in the freezer for 1-2 months. Same goes for the ham bone (don’t toss it it’s perfect for soup). Thaw in the fridge overnight and reheat same as stated above.
