Omar Marmoush Tottenham loan agreement

Tottenham have reached a verbal agreement with Manchester City to sign forward Omar Marmoush on an initial loan, with a £50 million purchase obligation that becomes mandatory if certain conditions are met.

The report comes via Fabrizio Romano, who states the 27-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Spurs and is due to travel to London on Monday for a medical. The move would then require contracts and registration paperwork to be completed before it’s official – so file this under agreed-in-principle rather than done deal just yet.

Notably, the structure has shifted from earlier reporting. Previous rumours had Tottenham discussing a straight permanent deal worth between £74m and £75m, so a loan-with-conditional-obligation at £50m represents a meaningfully different – and cheaper – mechanism, according to KingFut. What conditions actually trigger that obligation hasn’t been disclosed, which is the sort of detail Spurs fans have learned to treat with mild suspicion until it’s spelled out in black and white.

Where Marmoush fits and what’s still murky

Marmoush started on the bench for City’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth on opening weekend, having featured off the bench in the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal. Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca has publicly distinguished his situation from players actively pushing for exits, saying Marmoush hadn’t asked to leave since day one – though Maresca also acknowledged the club would consider offers when they suited.

This links up with earlier reported interest in the Egypt international and sits alongside Tottenham’s parallel pursuit of Savinho from the same City squad, a deal reportedly worth up to £85m including add-ons. Roberto De Zerbi has been driving the club’s push to strengthen the attack this window, part of broader forward recruitment plans at the club.

Marmoush joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025 and made 36 appearances last season, scoring eight goals. Nothing’s confirmed until Monday’s medical is done and dusted – Spurs fans know better than most how these things can wobble at the last hurdle.
