The Wedding Coffee Trend to Watch in 2026

Whether part of cocktail hour or designed to keep the dance floor hopping well into the night, mobile espresso bars have become one of the most popular wedding trends this season.

Part of the growth is being driven by changing traditions. Some couples host morning ceremonies, while others want to move away from a late-night party atmosphere. “Some couples are hosting sober weddings, whether for religious, personal, or health reasons, and they want elevated nonalcoholic options for guests,” says Amanda Gilbride, co-owner of Green Kettle Coffee Cart in Wallingford, Connecticut.

But today’s couples are looking for more than just a quick caffeine hit. They’re using lattes to share something meaningful with their guests while creating an experience that fits everything from sunrise brunches to late-night receptions, and they’re looking for something more special than a standard Cambro of coffee.

As Katie Matheny, VP of Sales & Client Experience at Intentional Espresso in Portland, Oregon, puts it: “They’re not simply looking for caffeine. They’re looking for hospitality through the medium of coffee.”

The new signature drink: love stories on lattes

For couples who cannot get by without a daily cup of coffee, bringing that ritual into the wedding reception is the perfect addition to the celebration. While traditionally couples have created signature cocktails to add a personalized touch to the reception, couples are now doing the same with coffee, creating “specialty drinks that reflect their personalities and their favorite memories together,” Gilbride says.

This doesn’t just mean flavored syrups or cold foam. When coffee caterers offer packages that feature personalized latte art prints, coffee service turns into one of the most talked-about parts of the reception.

Customized latte art ideas from real weddings

Every couple has a story and personalized lattes give them a new way to share it. For a summer wedding catered by Square Coffee in Los Angeles California, Co-Founder and Barista Justin Kim helped the couple create custom illustrations of the couple’s dogs.

“Guests immediately recognized the illustration, started taking photos of their drinks, and shared stories about the dogs with one another,” Kim says.

For a national parks-themed wedding, Green Acres Coffee Cart created a custom illustration of the couple hiking, the shared hobby that first brought them together. “The print made the experience feel very personal and unique to them,” Gilbride says.

An Intentional Espresso bride, a wedding planner herself, knew she didn’t want to limit herself to a single idea. The team served drinks featuring the couple’s monogram, their fur baby, and most notably, her new husband’s family crest. The biggest reaction came when the groom’s father and grandfather were served coffees with latte art prints that matched their signet rings, and realized the entire room was celebrating their family’s heritage. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight.

A love story is made up of a hundred tiny details, and with custom printed coffees, couples have the flexibility to celebrate as many of them as they wish, and caterers can offer a personalized experience without risking long lines or creating extra work for the barista.

How personalized lattes draw a crowd

“Coffee carts naturally create excitement because they’re interactive and unexpected at weddings,” says Gilbride. “As soon as the first printed drinks appear, guests start gravitating toward the cart. Then they stick around to compare designs and take photos. It becomes part beverage service, part experience.”

“Latte art prints are always a showstopper,” Matheny adds. “Guests’ jaws drop, people immediately pull out their phones, they compare prints with each other, and they run across the room to show friends and family.”

Kim sees the exact same phenomenon. “Guests can’t stop photographing their cups before they even take a sip,” he notes. “We hear ‘How am I supposed to drink this?!’ all the time.”

The talk of the reception (and beyond)

Coffee carts are the vendors couples are discovering at other people’s weddings, and printed latte art has shifted from a fun upgrade to a key bookings driver. Matheny says “many clients actually find us because they already know we offer latte printing.”

“The custom drink prints create a memorable guest experience and naturally encourage people to take photos and share them on social media,” says Gilbride.

“It’s an easy upgrade that couples are genuinely excited to include in their celebration,” adds Kim.

Mobile espresso bars and personalized coffees have earned their place as one of the most memorable parts of the reception.
