Space, the only frontier… we can escape to!
When I get the space that I need to escape life, I always need a soundtrack and Cosmo Cocktail’s ‘Planetica’ does it.
As of late, I’ve been trying to escape from reality because reality is what brings me down and thus, I’m enjoying what Cosmo Cocktail is doing.
They’re tending bar.
On the first listen; I got lost in how “Frostmoon” plays with the beat and as a result, they create a hook that I can’t break away from.
These tracks are danceable and, who wouldn’t want to dance when they get to another planet?
At some point, when listening to this album, (which is hard to find on vinyl) I felt like I was marooned but then “The Major” happens and I didn’t feel forgotten.
Cosmo Cocktail plays it pretty close to the Earth with “Mare Tranquillitatis”, and what I mean by that is that it’s about our satellite, the moon or in fact, any celestial body that has a large, dark, relatively smooth surface area formed by ancient lava flows.

The music is simple but there’s connective tissue around that music that connects us to celestial bodies.
In another word, it’s terrestrial.
How else are we going to land if our conviction is to land on solid surfaces?
I feel that I’m drifting here, I need to hear this again.
