I’ve been buying tiny jars of garlic in oil for a few years now but cannot always find it. I use this when making tacos, chili, and other meals, so I like to keep a stock of it. Unfortunately, when I went to the store to get some last time, they were out. I pay under $3 per jar when I can get them, and was happy to pay that so I didn’t have to put in the work when I had more money coming in. But I can certainly save a little money chopping the cloves myself, and I know the oil is organic now that if I make it on my own.
So, I decided to do so. There are only two ingredients, after all. I am storing mine in a small canning jar. My guess is the jar I made over the weekend, which is probably a little more than twice the size of store-bought, cost me maybe $1 to make. A savings of over $4.
I do use organic oils, which cost more than, but this is still a great savings.

What things can you make at home to save money? I am looking at the various things I can do to spend less at the store.
