Antevia Networks demos public MNO and private 5G connectivity running simultaneously over the same RAN ⋆ Electronics Weekly


Antevia Networks, the telecoms equipment vendor, has announced a successful demonstration of public Mobile Network Operator (MNO) and private 5G connectivity running simultaneously over the same RAN.

The live test demonstrated two devices connecting securely to separate public and private core networks through a single Antevia radio infrastructure, using Ontix’s Nexus Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) gateway. This marks a step towards a shared in-building 5G model that can deliver both public mobile coverage and private network services without requiring separate radio deployments.

The achievement is a significant milestone in the companies’ collaboration to enable shared in-building 5G infrastructure using MOCN technology to deliver Hybrid PMN and MNO services over a shared in-building RAN deployment.

During final testing one device was connected to a private 5G core network, while a second device was connected to a public MNO core network through the secure Ontix MOCN gateway. Both connections were carried over the same Antevia radio infrastructure.

The demonstration represents an important step towards a new model for Neutral Host In-Building connectivity in the UK, where a common radio layer can support both public mobile services and dedicated private 5G services.

It builds upon Antevia and Ontix’ partnership, announced in May 2026, to develop a solution using shared access spectrum in the n77 band, combining Antevia’s 5G RAN technology with Ontix’s Neutral Host Service Gateway, Nexus and Service Enablement Model.

While traditional approaches to indoor mobile coverage require separate infrastructure for individual operators, private cellular networks are commonly deployed as another standalone system MOCN changes this model by allowing multiple networks to share a common radio infrastructure while maintaining connectivity to separate core networks.

For building owners, enterprises and venue operators this creates the potential for one in-building 5G infrastructure investment to support multiple connectivity requirements. Meanwhile, for MNOs, the shared infrastructure model offers a route to improving indoor coverage without requiring a completely separate radio deployment for each operator.

Rather than installing separate radio systems for public coverage and private enterprise services, we can use one shared radio layer and securely direct each subscriber to the appropriate network. Sharing infrastructure has the potential to fundamentally improve the economics of delivering high-quality 5G coverage inside buildings.”
