The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said it caught Moinabad Municipality Town Planning Officer Gundu Vani on September 30 for allegedly demanding and accepting a ₹75,000 bribe through Senior Assistant Yelamoni Sudarshan.
According to the ACB, Sudarshan acted as an intermediary. He is a former Panchayat Secretary of Moinabad gram panchayat and is currently working on deputation as a senior assistant in the municipality.
The ACB said the money was sought in return for not taking coercive action against the complainant’s construction by treating it as an illegal structure. The ₹75,000 was recovered from Sudarshan’s possession at Vani’s instance, the bureau said.
The bureau alleged that both officers improperly and dishonestly performed their duties to obtain an undue advantage. Vani and Sudarshan were produced before the I Additional Special Judge for Special Police Establishment and Anti-Corruption Bureau cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation, and the ACB withheld the complainant’s details for security reasons.
The ACB said the public can report bribe demands by public servants through its toll-free number 1064 or WhatsApp number 9440446106. It also accepts reports through its Facebook and X accounts.
